Asset Strategy & Performance Management
For a long time, industrial maintenance was not a (direct) part of the value chain for the manufacturing industries. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why industrial maintenance was operated in many places as a by-product of production.
In the course of the next industrial revolution – IIoT or digitalization – and intensified by the pandemic situation, it is becoming clear that short product and innovation cycles on the one hand and strong resilience of logistics on the other hand are basic prerequisites for a successful business. In this context, industrial maintenance as a support process can make a significant contribution to increasing resilience, in an environment where production processes are already working very close to optimum and are thus considered an integral part of the value chain.
This is achieved by no longer looking solely at the planning and execution of maintenance, but by taking a holistic approach, focusing on the plant object, the asset. The entire life cycle of the asset is considered and thus a holistic maintenance strategy is developed depending on the operational requirements and the business objectives. This must be continuously monitored and updated in order to remain efficient and effective. This explains the term “Asset Strategy and Performance Management”.
In the area of production operations, successful implementation can help minimize unplanned machine downtime and the associated loss of revenue. A significant improvement in data consistency and quality is the basis for transparent and accurate reporting. This condition simultaneously forms the basis for IT-OT integration on the path to digitalization. Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of activities to be performed is also a goal to be realized, despite increasing system complexity and requirements. In this way, an increase in system reliability can also be ensured. In the area of warehouse management, an optimized inventory management is to be aimed at in order to achieve an improved CAPEX distribution and, in extreme cases, to dissolve so-called “black warehouses”.
Other services
We accompany our customers through the different phases of an ASPM transformation and support them around the topics of processes, people, skills, tools, integration and data. Ideally, the need for action has been identified in an inventory and assessment. For the transformation, the target picture must be defined and concrete actions described. The approach and scope of activities must also be defined – depending on the adaptability of the organization, it must not be overstretched. A successful transformation must maintain a balance between change and business continuity.
Data Driven Decisions is objective and transparent decision making that provides maximum support to decision makers. The underlying requirements for this are consistent data as well as applicable metrics that can map the individual states and the degree of goal achievement. Monitoring goal achievement / performance through specific KPIs forms one of the cornerstones of a successful transformation and, in the further course, provides information on how successfully the organization has internalized and implemented the change.
